JOB SCOPE
The Manager Transport & Capacity administers company policy and provides efficient operation in the areas of planning, project development and design, implementation, inventory management for Charter’s IP network and associated leased capacity, and numerous internal corporate customers for transport and capacity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for managing and executing IP network plans for interconnection bandwidth
  • Manages and provides direction to the Transport and Capacity Engineering team
  • Develops and maintains processes and procedures associated with transport, circuit management and capacity engineering functions
  • Develops and produces reports clearly indicating benchmarks, critical paths, resource loads, timing, and required plan adjustments. Also identifies project delays and provides suggested corrective courses for any incurred delays
  • Provides project and vendor coordination of access providers, provide billing coordination, verification, and support to network key holders and corporate accounting
  • Provides contract and price negotiation for IP circuits
  • Collects and aggregates IP data from a variety of sources for reporting to government entities
  • Manage special interconnection projects
  • Responsible for Enterprise and IP Network leased line budget adherence
  • Ensures compliance with established processes, procedures, and policies
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor
  • Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
BASIC/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and/or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum five (5) Years of IP network engineering experience
  • Minimum three (3) Years of Program development or project planning experience
  • Minimum three (3) Years of Management experience
ADDITIONAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate to with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner.
  • Hands on experience with IP networking, IP interconnection and infrastructure
  • Ability to work within company swim lanes, and manage corporate processes
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects to meet target dates for implementation
  • Effective organization and prioritization skills
  • Experience writing process and procedures
  • Expert level working with Excel and advanced skills utilizing Power Point
  • Strong experience with vendor and contract negotiation
  • Knowledge of collocation and data center environment
  • Broad knowledge of IP transport and routing protocols, testing, and activation
  • Ability to work well with all levels of organization, varied disciplines and degrees of technical business experience, and external access providers
  • Able to interpret engineering drawings (e.g., fiber maps, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently, to show judgment and initiative, and to accomplish job duties and goals
  • Proficient in use of personal computer and software applications (i.e. office applications, project scheduling programs, and mapping software, etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Professional level Network Certification or equivalent work experience
  • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training

  • Office environment
  • Some travel may be required
