Position Summary:
The Charter Communications currently seeks a Network Engineer (3) for Special Projects in our Spectrum Enterprise Engineering and Operations Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position. The Network Engineer of Special Projects will be responsible for gathering and analyzing network data for the Spectrum Enterprise Engineering the Enterprise, Carrier network and Commercial optical transport, at the direction of Network leadership


Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work effectively in a development, team environment. Responsible for providing statistical assistance to the department, capturesstatistical information regarding change activities
  • Have the ability to gather and analyze data, reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate concise information and recommendation available in both oral and written forms
  • Utilize an understanding of technical data, makes recommendations to ensure documentation/reports are prepared in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Conducts trending analysis for improvement
  • Identify relevant trends, do follow up analysis, prepare visualizations
  • Develop and maintain dashboards to track remediation of issues
  • Extract and analyze data, patterns, and related trends, with the subsequent ability to synthesize the data into information consumable by business decision-makers
  • Provide statistical assistance to the department
  • Uses research and statistical methods to conduct comprehensive analyses on the data collected


Required Qualifications:
  • Understanding of Ethernet, IP and TDM based networks and architectures
  • Understanding of routing protocols, MPLS, VPLS, SONET, and Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Technical Specifications
  • Understanding and vision as it relates to Network change, augment and failure as well as the benefit and consequence of each
  • Industry knowledge of Wireless, Wi-Fi, Carrier Ethernet, MEF Standards and related product suites
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals, ideas and methodologies
  • Ability to consistently deliver a set of products that follow industry and TWC Engineering standards and best practices
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate to cross-functional groups with various degrees of skill-sets, knowledge and experience
  • Must have the ability to create and communicate and present executive reports to the levels of Senior Manager and Director in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to manage projects, track milestones and report on status

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience. MS, MBA, and/or Certifications in networking (CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIP, NRS1/2), project management, quality improvement (Six Sigma), or similar disciplines (ITIL) preferred.

Related Work Experience
  • 3+ years’ experience working on Network Engineering and/or Architecture/Standards Development teams in a high paced, dynamic Service Provider environment
  • 3+ years’ operating, engineering on teams that develop or engineer Ethernet, IP, Managed Services based networks, architectures or designs
  • Previous experience with establishing, documenting and communication of Network Engineering & Integration Standards
  • Previous experience with customer support in a Service Provider environment
  • Working knowledge and experience with Network Engineering, Planning, Design, Architecture & Integration
  • Experience with Nokia, Cisco and/or Juniper Layer1, Layer2 and/or Layer3 network elements
  • Vision and desire to succeed while working with a group of diverse personnel under a corporate construct
  • Previous experience in the deployment and support of network equipment, routing protocols and customer data solutions


Travel Requirements:
Travel 15%

Physical Demands:
The physical demands for this position are typical to an office environment and must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Additionally the candidate must be able to climb step ladders and run fiber jumpers in hubs and customer sites in accordance with Spectrum standards.
