As the Principal Developer, you implement solutions for a variety of IT initiatives and projects for business and client-facing telecommunications systems. You excel at providing strategic consultation in the areas of development, integration testing, domain architecture and high-level project road mapping. Using an expert level of specific language-based technologies within the designated framework, you design, develop and implement information technology systems. You consult with project owners to resolve issues regarding operations, implementations and system status. You thrive in an office environment developing software for initiatives across the organization. You report to the Manager of Network Development for goals, guidance and assistance.

What you will do:
  • Be an impactful member of the Software Development team by supporting all efforts to simplify and enhance the client experience.
  • Provide strategic consultation to develop architecture and implement key business applications, including billing and provisioning systems, web applications and internal/external software.
  • Drive projects by writing code for web applications and give recommendations during peer review coding sessions.
  • Ensure project success by performing unit and integration testing while providing recommendations to peer teams and leadership on best practices and test case solutions.
  • Work with peers to design and configure client-based systems and applications and advise project teams on architecture, strategy and other ancillary IT processes.
  • Collaborate with leadership to set strategies and tactical implementation procedures for all aspects of a project within the software development lifecycle.
  • Provide technical guidance and solutions on issues, defects and project deliverables to mitigate risks.
  • Triage defects and project deliverables on analyses to diagnose and fix the operational difficulty.
  • Influence and recommend system design by identifying and recommending design and requirements needs for business and client-facing applications.
  • Troubleshoot to resolve incidents and issues for production applications to adhere to requirements under identified service level agreements.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise in web/web API development, domain architecture, industry tools and trends to provide strategic recommendations on and technical support.
  • Coach and mentor developers by advising on writing code and technical documentation.
  • Facilitate continuous performance improvement sessions and recommend opportunities to improve processes or standards.
Required keys for success:
  • Six or more years of IT work experience with SQL based relational databases.
  • Eight or more years of experience designing and configuring systems and applications working in development.
  • Expert in object oriented programming (OOP) and prototypal inheritance.
  • Experience with Spring framework.
  • Advanced knowledge of language-based programming, SQL, PL/SQL, writing shell scripts, web services development, Tomcat server, unit testing frameworks, continuous integration tools, Maven and Git version control systems.
  • Experience with network design, network architecture, protocols, network topology, TCP/IP, OSI model, network devices and network appliances.
  • Hands-on experience with design software, application service platforms, development languages, test automation tools and development frameworks.
  • Basic knowledge of infrastructure technologies and concepts.
  • Track record of performing duties in a fast-paced dynamic environment and learning new technology quickly.
  • History of communicating technology concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Lateral thinker that can solve complex technical issues with outside-the-box solutions.
  • Effective written and spoken English communication skills with all levels of an organization.

  • Advanced knowledge of Micro-services architecture.
  • Experience working in the telecommunications industry.
  • Technology agnostic and experience working with multiple technology stacks.
Your education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, MIS, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience (required).
