JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for building and proposing technology strategies for the business intelligence organization. Role will define, develop, and implement technology roadmaps for the Business Intelligence organization and to align the BI technology ecosystem with the broader corporate data & business strategies. Responsible for trialing and evaluating new technologies through the implementation of proof-of-concept deployments, and leading demos of findings. Responsible for advocating, training, and collaborating with others who have a role in implementing technology strategies. Provide high-level architecture designs for major BI initiatives in collaboration with Data Integration and Reporting Services organizations.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with business leaders, IT, BI leaders, and data asset owners to formulate the broader data strategy for the enterprise; bring thought leadership to data management functions and advocate for the use of technology to accomplish strategic objectives; support the continued transformation of Charter into a data and analytics-driven organization
•Collaborate with IT organization to define BI technology roadmaps that will perform and scale to the demand of the BI organization:
Review and provide recommendations and guidance for on-prem, cloud and hybrid ecosystem data management
Propose technology framework for data sharing, provisioning, and security for on-prem, cloud, and hybrid data ecosystem
Partner with data governance to formulate technology solutions and best practices, for securing, provisioning and administering the data assets
Perform assessments and provide recommendations on preferred technology toolkits/solutions for the technical, functional and process needs of the BI organization
Configure and deploy software and associated infrastructure for limited trials and demos leveraging AWS environments and SaaS offerings.
•Provide technical guidance and recommend implementation approaches that achieve strategic goals for technology use
•Monitor technology and business trends to help business leaders identify opportunities and threats; evaluate technical roadmaps against trends and seek self-disruption if appropriate
•Collaborate with the IT organization in operationalizing useful insights from the BI infrastructure for the benefit of the business organizations; identify new data sources from the IT eco-system and roadmap that can generate new data assets and improve insights
•Manage BI application portfolio, application dispositions (directional/non-directional), and associated metadata; document preferred data collection, processing, and publication architectural patterns, and associate applications with the patterns they support
•Communicate database designs to business and technical audiences, including business users, program sponsors, database administrators, ETL developers and BI developers
•Provide architectural expertise, thought leadership, direction, and assistance across entire BI organization
•Participate in Architecture Review Board meetings; review solutions presented by other BI architects and provide constructive feedback


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Expertise in all areas of data warehousing (architecture, data sourcing/acquisition, integration, transformation, presentation)
Experience in logical and physical database design for data warehousing (3NF/Star Schemas) including SQL writing/tuning on MPP platforms such as Teradata and/or Netezza
Proven ability to quickly grasp business requirements and translate them into optimized solution blueprints
Strong problem solving, collaboration and communication skills Passion for leveraging data to improve business outcomes
Experience in developing roadmaps for BI Architecture discipline ; Experience in developing and implementing complex data warehouse and BI solutions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates who are AWS Certified (Solutions Architect, Developer, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, etc.) preferred
Experience using AWS EC2, S3, Lambda, SageMaker, EMR, Data Pipeline, Quicksight, or Glue highly sought
Experience configuring and using time-series databases like Apache Druid, Prometheus, or TimeStream is preferred
Certification on Teradata and/or MicroStrategy is a plus
Familiarity with predictive modeling tools like SAS and/or R
Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark is a plus but not required
Experience in cable or another telecommunications service provider is a plus
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban and SAFe
Familiarity with cloud EDW solutions like Snowflake or Redshift a plus

Education
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science; or equivalent training, education and experience
Master’s degree preferred

Related Work Experience
Architect in large-scale, complex BI/DW environments, with numerous data sources 8+ Years
Erwin Data Modeler, ER/Studio or similar data modeling tools 3+ Years
ELT/SQL Development on Teradata or similar MPP database platform 2+ Years
ETL platforms such as Informatica, Ab-initio or Data Stage 2+ Years
BI reporting/OLAP platforms such as MicroStrategy (preferred), Cognos, Business Objects 2+ Years
