Director, BI Technology Strategy

Responsible for defining the technology strategy for Charter’s Business Intelligence organization. Will partner with the IT department and work with seniors leaders of the of the organization to provide a clear vision and implementation path for technology solutions that meet business and organizational goals. Will align business intelligence initiatives to our broader corporate strategy and ultimately drive a superior customer experience. Accountable for leading, managing, mentoring, collaborating, and developing the teams responsible for the implementation of the technology strategy. Lead organization through cloud transformation while support hybrid operating model.

Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience

Partner with business partners, IT partners and data asset owners and formulate the broader data strategy for the enterprise.

Bring thorough leadership to Data management functions and the use of technology to accomplish the strategic objectives and support the continued transformation of Charter into a data and analytics driven organization

Own the successful implementation of business intelligence technologies, architecture, and business-driven initiatives

Champion adoption of business intelligence systems/tools/processes where appropriate

Educate and ensure that the vertical leaders are leveraging expert knowledge of business intelligence technology capabilities have deep familiarity with technology and business trends to help business leaders identify opportunities and threats

Partner with senior leadership on the continuing transformation of Charter into a data and analytics driven organization

Lead a high-performing team by recruiting, training, coaching and developing effective leaders and staff

Ensure the vertical leaders are providing forward looking insight that may effect the technology roadmap

Complete monthly executive summaries of business intelligence accomplishments / issues and more generally communicate progress with other technology leaders

Prioritize initiatives with a keen eye toward business impact

Instill and reinforce a strong customer service and business-oriented ethic in the entire team

Manage associated budgets and processes within the Business Intelligence function.

Provide strong management and leadership skills with a proactive participative management style

Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

Prior experience defining data architecture strategies for cloud and on-premise deployments
Deep familiarity with data warehousing principles, data movement patterns, and enterprise-grade system design
Prior experience using SQL, Python, Javascript, stored procedures, shell scripting, or similar scripts for data manipulation a plus
Prior experience using web services, JSON, Kafka, KSQL, or similar web-centric methods of data manipulation a plus
Prior experience or familiarity with MPP OLAP platforms (i.e. Teradata), distributed databases (Hadoop/Hive), graph-based DB’s (i.e. Neo4j), or time-series DB’s (i.e. Apache Druid) highly desired
Thorough understanding of billing system enterprise software systems. CSG System knowledge a plus
A demonstrable history of influencing others through consensus building in a cross functional / matrix environment
A strong and consistent history of leading people and projects to a successful, high impact outcome
Excellent communication skills: Listening, verbal and written
Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal
Ability to negotiate and defuse conflict Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative Team-building, recruiting, and talent management skills are essential
Familiarity with a range of Business Intelligence approaches and tools
Deep understanding and appreciation for both business and technology components of information strategy
Familiarity with latest emerging technologies and possess the ability to find financial and organizational sponsorship to support those emerging technologies
Ability to positively influence and persuade
Act independently or with limited direction
Possess effective communications skills including presentation skills
Ability to plan, prioritize and organize effectively
Knowledge of cable services, cable billing systems (CSG), or industry experience preferred, but not required

BA or BS College Degree or related work experience
Master’s Degree or MBA preferred
AWS Solutions Architect Certification highly preferred
