The Highlights
The Network Engineer IV leads in the planning, forecasting, implementation and identification of resource requirements for highly complex network systems. In this role, you will design and establish corporate standards, develop and implement network enhancements and make recommendations for improvement. You will lead the implementation of approved network architecture and designs and serve as a leader in staff development efforts.

What you will do
  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the client experience
  • Design, deploy, manage and ensure the stability of local/wide area network (LAN/WAN) infrastructure technologies to provide high availability, fault tolerance and scalability to effectively and efficiently support mission-critical business systems
  • Demonstrate a high level of competence in LAN/WAN technologies, routing and switching platforms, troubleshooting critical issues and coordinating implementation
  • Represent the Engineering Department, working closely with architects and engineers in designing, modeling and implementing new technologies
  • Become a trusted partner of our engineering team through the delivery of excellent customer service and knowledge that will allow our business to grow
  • Troubleshoot and resolve major network and system issues
  • Document project requirements, including scope, costs, schedule, testing and terms of delivery
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and meet high-quality standards and leadership expectations using the appropriate tools
  • Mentor and train other engineering employees in key elements of networking systems and provide technical presentations to instruct coworkers and other production services support individuals
  • Research and identify technology opportunities and their applications to the business
  • Test and validate all new hardware and connections for proper configuration and performance
  • Adhere to industry-specific local, state and federal regulations
  • Know, understand and follow company policy
  • Perform additional duties related to this position as assigned by supervisor
Required keys for success
  • Six or more years of data network experience
  • Advanced data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport)
  • Advanced knowledge of related industry specifications and standards such as IEEE, ANSI, fiber (multimode, single mode, UTP, etc.), bridging, switching, routing, Ethernet and transport technologies and protocols
  • Advanced knowledge in network design, architecture, protocols and topology
  • Advanced knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations
  • Advanced knowledge of basic network devices and appliances
  • Advanced knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to learn new technology quickly
  • Ability to use personal computer and software applications
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Effective communication skills

Your education
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, electrical engineering or related field or equivalent work experience (required)
  • Industry- and vendor-specific certifications and training such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Juniper Network Certified Specialist (JNCIS or JNCIP) or Alcatel-Lucent (preferred)
