What is Spectrum Networks? Spectrum Networks is a series of 27 hyper-local news and 9 regional sports networks owned and operated by Charter Communications, Inc. Spectrum Networks seeks to provide the most essential local news and information, cultivating relevant and thoughtful conversations that foster informed and engaged communities.

The Spectrum News Environment: Spectrum News is a 24-hour news network that requires employees be flexible and available to work various shifts throughout the day, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays. The network is currently focused on the morning news, which means your day could start very early, but it also means your workday will end around noon (most days).

They are team players with positive attitudes and strong interpersonal skills. They have the ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.

What we’re looking for
The Co-Executive Producer is responsible for overseeing daily production in studio and/or production truck of LA Times Today, Best-Of shows and specials, working with the host, production team and segment producers to build a show using packages, interviews, segments, show graphics, etc. This is a supervisory role that also requires writing and story producing.

Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Supervises and Line Produces daily production of the show(s) and the recording/timing of segments
  • Organize and build rundown for the show(s)
  • Write and edit connective tissue for the broadcast
  • Manager in charge of the control room during production to ensure accurate recordings and smooth workflow
  • Daily Check-ins with Host, Executive Producer, Managing Editor and segment producers to help craft stories and segments
  • Supervise segment producers and maintain frequent (daily) communications
  • Manage and track producer workload on daily and weekly basis
  • Write VOs, packages and intros as needed, ensuring content is factually correct and written in a clear and concise broadcast style
  • Ability to produce live broadcast
  • Follows through on all assignments meeting required deadlines according to the Executive Producer’s instructions.
  • Assists in training new hires as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Strong broadcast news writing ability
  • Must be flexible with ability to anticipate situations, troubleshoot problems and meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal collaboration skills
  • Ability to maintain a positive, leadership attitude that contributes to an inclusive work environment
  • Knowledge of current events and industry trends
  • Attention to accuracy and detail
  • Familiarity with the local market
  • Knowledge of social media platforms
  • Must be able to work rapidly and accurately under pressure
  • Working knowledge of general office computer software, newsroom software and basic non-linear editing systems a plus

Education & Experience:
  • High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field or comparable television work experience preferred
  • 5+ years of Television news experience
  • 3+ years of Line producing experience
