The Advanced Engineering department resides in the Charter Technical Engineering Center (CTEC) facilities in Englewood, CO and oversees the design and architecture of Charter’s multi-billion dollar network infrastructure. We investigate, select, develop, and integrate technologies and solutions that meet the needs of the company for short, medium and long term initiatives. This includes the delivery of the technology plan and future architecture for Voice, Video, Data, Optical, Commercial, Cloud, CPE, Network and Access.

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for directing and managing the integration of new features, functions, solutions, and technologies into Charter’s core IP Multimedia (IMS) and Voice over IP switch lab infrastructure. Implement and enhance current engineering and documentation practices to ensure a consistent product delivery that’s aligned with company initiatives and evolving expectations. The position will require the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization as well as cross-organization, and the ability to oversee assignments and manage internal and external expectations. This position requires drive, an outgoing personality, and exceptional presentation and communication skills. The candidate must be a client-centric technical individual and a demonstrated leader. The candidate must be extremely technical and have deep understanding of legacy and next generational voice switch architectures including IMS. An ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in at least one leading Voice over IP technologies.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees integration of new technologies, solutions, products, and services into the IMS and Voice Switch lab infrastructure

Works with internal and external teams to ensure successful integration of new products and services, into the production network

Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.

Leads an innovative, collaborative work team to produce exceptional results delivering the customer experience. Customers include Operations, IT, and other Engineering teams.

Manage resource allocation and workload of team members, effectively communicate individual project statuses, and ensuring delivery on time and with minimal defects.

Develops direct reports in order to drive a high-performance culture and environment.

Oversees integration of Charter’s IMS and Voice over IP Switch Application Server platforms with the device manage, provisioning, billing, and portal platforms. Ensuring that any changes within the platforms do not impact dependent systems prior to deployment.

Actively engage with vendors and other project stakeholders to ensure their deliverables are being met with quality, consistency, on time, and in a cost effective manner.

Provides engineering support and direction for new or existing technologies and current operational initiatives.

Evaluates and consults with all levels of leadership regarding prioritization of projects, operational issues, new product development and deployment, and strategic planning of new and platform rebuilds.

Directs quality control efforts ensuring all projects transitioned to the dependent operational and IT teams is consistent, of high quality, and meet and or exceed product and operational requirements.

Reviews selections on bids for contracted projects, and provide recommendations as necessary.

Assists with the yearly capital and operational budget process and executes resulting budget plan.

Leads and participates in succession planning.

Performs other duties as requested.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner

Advanced Knowledge of HFC, IMS, and traditional Voice over IP switching architectures, and IP Networks

Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks

Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure

Ability to supervise and motivate others

Ability to use personal computer and software applications

EDUCATION
Master's degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
