Test and validate Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and backend systems affecting CPE. Test plan creation, test execution and defect reporting. Coordinate DOCSIS specifications as defined by CableLabs standards and Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP). Work with engineering team to review firmware requirements and provide feedback. Perform network engineering including cable Multiple System Operator (MSO) or Internet Service Provider (ISP). Act as subject matter for the team on testing, DOCSIS, and backend support systems involved in cable modem provisioning of CPE. Identify hardware and software testing requirements. Participate in weekly bug classification, prioritization and test plan creation. Establish test network environments as documented in test plans. Use networking tools used to troubleshoot including: Wireshark, DOCSIS RF Analyzer, and iPerf. Perform system-wide end-to-end integration and regression testing. Document results and review with designated teams and vendors. Utilize TR-69 protocol used for remote management of customer premise devices. Work with vendors and engineers to resolve issues discovered during testing and develop and document fixes and workarounds. Assist operations team with implementation and escalations. Participate in operational handoff review activities and manage onsite vendor resources.
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. 5 years of experience in network engineering including cable Multiple System Operator (MSO) or Internet Service Provider (ISP). 2 years of experience with DOCSIS specifications as defined by CableLabs standards and Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP); testing plan creation, test execution and defect reporting; backend support systems involved in provisioning of CPE devices. 1 year of experience with networking tools used to troubleshoot including: Wireshark, DOCSIS RF Analyzer, iPerf,; and experience with TR-69 protocol for remote management of customer premise devices.
