Today, Charter’s WIFI network serves more than 300 million wireless devices, many of which are smart phones provided by cellular companies, and carries 80 percent of the data consumed on those devices in our customers’ homes and offices.
The wireless device engineering team is seeking a Mobile Enterprise Architect to work on mission-critical projects contributing to Charter’s commitment of building and expanding intelligent WIFI capabilities.
As a member of the wireless engineering organization, you’ll be required to work in an agile team environment where professional respect and communication is key. Because we work on the cutting edge of a lot of technologies, we need someone who is a creative problem solver, resourceful in getting things done, and productive working independently or collaboratively.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Principal Engineer II will own the design, development, documentation, and troubleshooting of our wireless network automation platform in addition to new technology development projects involving new software module development. • Develop the technical software strategy/roadmap to create innovative native automated applications for our wireless network, • Assist the software development teams in identifying and managing dependencies with other teams, processes, and technologies, • Collaborate with the tech leads to define and adopt software development standards and best practices • Stay current on emerging trends in network automation solutions, • Effectively communicate technical solutions and recommendations to senior level management, • Participate in the evaluation and selection of best-in-class products needed to successfully implement new software modules, • Define, prioritize and manage the plans for addressing needs of different teams, • Support mobile teams in creating Proofs of Concept for new technologies and design patterns, • Drive the development of enterprise test frameworks/software to ensure proper and efficient execution and adherence to business and technical requirements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Expert level experience with designing and delivering optimized software modules and applications on wireless network automation space, • Expert level knowledge with wireless network deployment, launch, pre-deployment processes including auto-configuration and golden parameters, • Strong working experience with writing high-quality, testable, maintainable, and well-documented software packages, • Working level knowledge of 4G (5G-NR preferred) KPIs, Counters, and well-known hardware and software alarms, • Working level knowledge of next generation wireless network architectures including Virtualized Radio Access Network (vRAN), • Expert level knowledge of industry best practices for design and implementation of state of art automation platform, • Strong working experience with multiple of the following: Software Development Lifecycle, API Development & Integration, NoSQL Databases, SW Design Pattens, Container based SW Architecture, Virtualized HW Systems, Unit Testing, A/B Testing, DHCP Options, IPv6 Addressing, IPSec., Load Balancers. • Expert level experience with user interface design and development, service integration development • Experience building large scale, complex software applications optimized for both UX and performance, • Project experience with enterprise in-house development focusing transactional business data processing and endpoint integrations • Good understanding of OO Design, concurrency, synchronization, memory management, data structures, algorithms, etc. • Working experience and knowledge in TDD & BDD development practices • Willingness to mentor and advise other engineering team members
RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE 7+ years native software platform development experience 10+ years development experience of software packages/Platforms 5+ years wireless network operator experience with network deployment & launch.
EDUCATION Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred
