JOB SUMMARY
Lead a team of talented designers working on the Spectrum Digital Platforms Agency (“SDPA”) team. Direct and inspire others to design and build better products, systems, business relationships and workplace culture. Be responsible for establishing a clear vision and strategy that will inform the design direction and decisions for our key product areas in SDPA.

Contribute to a product design ecosystem and champion systems-thinking, business development and storytelling. Utilize a full range of organizational and interpersonal skills to help the team to operate at its highest potential. Be able to empower, connect and inspire peers, managers and internal clients alike. Lead design-inspired process (empathize, discover, ideate, build and deploy) and, based on performance data, enable business partners to improve Charter processes, products and service models.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

UX DESIGN LEADERSHIP.
As a hands-on product design leader and a consumer advocate, sets benchmarks for quality and consistency. Demonstrates ability to provide vision, direction and mentorship for a team of product designers. Introduces a practice of UX research and discovery, and leads the product design process. Understands business environment and goals, and helps to create and/or define KPI for various products and initiatives. Anticipates business growth opportunities, and has ability to manage, mentor and grow a world-class multidiscipline product design team. Aligns all work with the fundamental principles of “autonomy, mastery and purpose”.

STRATEGIC VISION. Helps create consumer-centric product design vision and insight, aligned with the overall product roadmap. Provides insightful strategic thought leadership, as well as an ability to lead product planning and development. Able to facilitate the design thinking process in order to solve business problems. Identifies opportunities to align design best practices and processes across multiple business units.

INSPIRE AND CONNECT. Champions a purpose-driven management process and connects the product design team with enterprise-wide opportunities. Empowers design professionals, and encourages an open dialogue. Leads “hands on” product design work, and promotes professional and personal growth. Helps team members to identify their career path and growth opportunities, and provides coaching and guidance.

UNIVERSAL DESIGN. Leads product design considering the full range of human diversity with respect to ability, language, culture, gender, age and other forms of human difference. Recognizes the diversity, uniqueness and, in some cases, disabilities of our customers. Realizes that inclusive experiences have beneficial impacts to all customers.

ENGINEERING, PRODUCT AND UX DESIGN ENVIRONMENT. Participates in a combined practice that unifies workflows between Engineering, Product and Design, and champions constant improvement of methodologies and techniques. Understands the cross-disciplinary, functional alignment in technology and product design, and is able to support all key contributors at all stages — ideation, design, asset delivery and post-launch support. Facilitates an open dialogue in order to provide and/or receive valuable feedback from all parties, and helps guide highly-functional, empowered, highly aligned teams toward common goals.

COMMUNICATION. Proactively communicates with product and engineering leads using a common language and addresses their needs, while being a consumer advocate. Leads design sprints, whiteboard sessions and reviews work of product designers to identify and solve problems.

CULTURE. Helps to influence, strengthen and evangelize the overall company culture. Constantly challenges the status quo and promotes “engineering and design thinking” throughout Charter and the wider design community. Demonstrates ability to inspire via action and lead by example.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner
Ability to demonstrate UX/UI design management skills via resume and portfolio
Ability to understand product design best practices
Ability to deliver against several initiatives simultaneously
Ability to lead, mentor and grow design staff
Ability to understand platform-specific nomenclature
Ability to sketch and generate big-picture ideas for early-stage product design work
Ability to design high-fidelity prototypes
Ability to lead based on UX research-driven, iterative product design approach
Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
Ability to develop, communicate and implement strategies and tactics
Ability to manage and deliver against several initiatives simultaneously
Ability to manage and train cross-functional teams
Ability to prioritize and organize effectively and independently
Ability to analyze and interpret data and synthesize recommendations
Ability to think strategically and anticipate future trends, needs and expectations
Ability to demonstrate UX/UI design management skills via resume and portfolio
Ability to sketch and generate big-picture ideas for early-stage product design work
Ability to “sell” ideas to various audiences, technical and non-technical
Excellent cognitive, communications skills and analytical skills
Strong business acumen and sense of urgency to achieve business results
Understanding of development processes

Education
Bachelor's degree in Design / HCI / Related Field, or equivalent real-world experience.

Related Work Experience / Number of Years
UX/UI or Product Design management experience / 8+

The pay for this position has a minimum of $120,700.00. The actual salary offer may be higher as we carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
