Director, Video Application Development

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for managing video product performance and technical development initiatives for the interactive program guide on the digital set top box, user interface enhancements on legacy platforms, usability and content strategy. Supports the entire software development life cycle while heavily focusing on the design implementation and testing phases. Drives cross functional collaboration with Design, QAM and IP Video Product, Software Engineering, , third party vendors, Network Operations and Finance.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience

Oversee internal and external software development teams

Lead the development of interactive systems or video playback systems, incorporating real time and/or metadata

Lead front-end application development via JavaScript and direction for new or existing technologies and current operational initiatives.

Partner with development team to respond, clarify or define specific application behavior, look/feel and function

Create and manage web development best practices

Manage prototype and pivots as needed based on ongoing market analysis

Possess firm understanding of Web 2.0 technologies, protocols, data models and user interface programming

Bring processes and procedures to an enterprise application development environment

Function as the liaison and facilitate collaboration between the Product Management team and the other supporting functional organizations (IT, OSS, Billing, and 3rd Party Suppliers) to properly interpret and deliver to functional specifications

Ensure alignment between the business operational strategies and technical solutions.

Develop an effective leadership team and assists them with developing their direct reports to drive a high-performance culture.

Proactively identifies key performance indicators and conducts performance and usage analysis to support and enable company goals for quality improvement and feature development while maintaining an eye toward the bigger picture.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills /Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Possess a deep technical knowledge of UI/UX development, HTML5, CSS3, and API development
Aptitude and eagerness to learn from a new environment and make an impact quickly
Ability to manage and foster change
Ability to lead large, cross-functional teams in order to achieve business goals and results
Strong ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
Strong ability to show judgment and initiative to accomplish job duties
Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel
Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner
Ability to use personal computer and software applications, proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, OO Design and design patterns
In-depth understanding of JavaScript, html, css and related development technologies
Strong organizational and office management skills
Excellent cognitive and communications skills
Excellent analytical skills
Strong business acumen and sense of urgency to achieve business results

Education
BS/BA in business, engineering, or computer science
MBA is preferred

Related Work Experience
10 years of experience in Product Development Process
10 years of related industry experience- Cable, Telecommunications, Software/Online Services
10 years of Product Development Experience preferably in Cable, Telecommunications, Software or Web Services
5+ years of management experience
