JOB SCOPE

Responsible for providing support and direction in planning and implementation of network related change. Responsible for the hiring, training, development, and performance management of staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Competent knowledge (helpful, not a must) of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in network design, network architecture, and protocols.
  • Experience in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations, and basic network devices and basic network appliances.
  • Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace team environment and ability to learn new technology quickly.
  • Develops a disciplined, detailed and structured team to drive a high performance culture and environment.
  • Provides engineering support and direction for new or existing technologies and current operational initiatives.
  • Work with staff to ensure that individual team metrics and goals are being met.
  • Ensures required reports are timely, accurate and complete.
  • Provides technical guidance and assistance as required for problem resolution.
  • Oversees the daily activities of Network Services and performs direct supervision of team members, including performance reviews, career development, and staffing.
  • Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
  • Knows, understands and follows company policy.
  • Establishes positive employee relations through effective communication and ongoing support.
  • Performs other duties as requested by manager.
BASIC/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field, and / or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum four (4) years of Network Engineering experience with TCP/IP Networking
  • Minimum three (3) years of hands-on experience with Cisco and/or Juniper routers
  • Minimum three (3) years of data network experience
ADDITIONAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Analyze and interpret data and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel both orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
  • Manage multiple projects at one time (i.e. prioritize and organize effectively)
  • Supervise and motivate others and work independently and demonstrates leadership qualities
  • Ability to use personal computer, software applications and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN design and operations
  • Ability to work with others to resolve problems, handle requests or situations
  • Knowledge and experience with Network and Element Management tools
  • Knowledge of cable, voice and data communications networks, and associated elements
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, SNMP and HFC networks
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.) preferred.
  • Knowledge of company products and services.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
  • Thorough and complete understanding of IPv4 and IPv6 subnetting.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Office environment.
  • Be available to assist team in a 24 x 7 Network Operations environment.
  • Travel as required.

The pay for this position has a minimum of $80900. The actual salary offer may be higher as we carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as commissions or bonuses.
