TITLE: Network Engineer IV LOCATION: Greenwood Village, CO
JOB SUMMARY: Maintain and care for the backbone IP implementations and operations (BBIPIO) networks for Charter Communications including nationwide transport of IP services and peering. Upgrade various routing platforms and support Line Card Chassis ' to existing cisco multi-chassis configurations that support backbone sites. Convert multi-chassis nodes to ASR9k (Cisco) for better port density. Upgrade Juniper PTX5k platform to 10k platform at several sites. Perform software network upgrades on BBIPIO devices. Coordinate with the vendor on all network projects and ensure support and information based on the network activity. Operate, configure, install, and upgrade software platforms, utilize multiple vendors for hardware platform installation and operations, and replace hardware and ensure delivery and replacement of defective product. Perform on-call rotation that helps support BBIP network-related issues or escalations. Work IP Protocols, including BGP, ISIS, Multicast, and 12vpn, to understand how to troubleshoot and configure the various protocols that Charter Communications’ backbone operates on and also transports. Support the entirety of transport for all market with the Charter Communications footprint. Develop automated scripts for networks. Augment network paths (either backbone to backbone, backbone to peers, backbone to Charter markets/verticals) and plan with other verticals/outside entities. Utilize and configure border gateway protocol sessions. Coordinate with the plan and design team, Circuit Delivery Operations team, and peer itself to ensure reliability for customers destinations. Update network maps, device registration and accountability, process and procedures, method of process documents and templates.
Salaries depend on geography, experience, and education; negotiations begin at $104,874.
Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and 1 year of experience in: IP protocols including BGP, ISIS, Multicast, and l2vpn; operating, configuring, installing, and upgrading software platforms; hardware platform installation and operations with multiple vendors; and developing automated scripts for networks. In lieu of a Master’s degree, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in the above-mentioned requirements.

The pay for this position has a minimum of $104874. The actual salary offer may be higher as we carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as commissions or bonuses.
