JOB SUMMARY
The Sr Dir, Design leads a team of managerial and frontline engineers in establishing company-wide HFC standards in areas such as OSP - HFC design, monitoring, powering, distortion calculations, policy development, process documentation and preparing/managing financial analysis as required to maintain departmental OPEX and capital budgets and ongoing Design projects. Maintains effective customer and vendor relationships to ensure the department sustains accurate and up to date Design information in correlation to Charter Communications services, products and capabilities.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead teams in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, practices and performance measurements that promote an environment of goals and measures effectiveness.

Identify, design, and/or research new technologies to create system efficiencies, process improvements, preventative maintenance, and/or cost-saving measures.

Serve as the liaison to various external organizations regarding Outside Plant Design.

Provide oversight and direction for improvements required to maximize availability of products and services as it relates to Outside Plant and Design.

Ensure project goals, timelines and budgets are met. Ensure implementation of project management processes, policies, procedures and best practices. Ensure continuous improvement of the Engineering organization.

Manage all direct reports and staff in the direct line reporting structure. Use strong leadership skills to effectively manage, train, mentor and coach direct reports to meet goals and expectations. Create a culture of teamwork and demonstrate the value of teamwork through his/her actions.

Perform capital planning and budgetary analysis of all systems. Ensure capital and operating department budgets are met.

Proactively manage development and implementation of OSP technology innovation.

Manage and support design, engineering and documentation for OSP Networks with cross matrix support of residential and commercial demand.

Oversee and guide network audit integrity, maintenance and support of HFC network infrastructure and design documentation.

Project management responsibility for in-house and contract labor resources to support active projects in an efficient and effective manner.

Cultivate a positive and respectful work environment through employee education, positive reinforcement, modeling the behavior, providing adequate work tools, and administering policies fairly and consistently.

Achieve excellent relationships with internal customers including Construction, Technical Operations, Commercial Business Class, Sales, Marketing, Government Affairs and Customer Care.

REQUIREDQUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Extensive knowledge of OSP Design, specifically to HFC Architecture and Design requirements in HFC Architecture, Passive Optical Networks and design
Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to effectively manage complex assignments
Ability to work in fast paced environment handling multiple responsibilities while successfully meeting goals and deadlines within budget
Strong analytical skills to collect, analyze, and interpret data used to measure performance of the organization
Extensive decision making skills to evaluate numerous direct and indirect variables
Ability to successfully manage vendor contracts and relationships
Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply solutions to meet business needs
Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
Ability to successfully manage and direct financial budget to achieve business goals
Ability to maintain and develop individual contributors within the team
Broad knowledge of Engineering and Operations
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Visio and Project applications programs
Strong business planning and forecasting skills

Education
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training, education and experience
Master’s degree preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to work flexible schedule
Travel up to 15% of the time or more may be required
