JOB SCOPE

The Senior Development Engineer is critical to the operations support of key trouble ticketing applications within the organization, and will take a significant role in the creation and modification of trouble ticketing solutions by designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining these applications and local customizations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Training and mentoring Engineers on the team
  • Providing operations support; maintenance of applications, capacity monitoring on existing servers, performance tuning, writing scripts
  • Defines site objectives by analyzing user requirements; envisioning system features and functionality; design and implement scalable, lasting solutions
  • Work closely with Development Manager, development teams, and other interfacing groups to set strategies and provide smooth execution of projects
  • Updates job knowledge by researching new internet/intranet technologies and software products; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Provide suggestions and solutions for server applications
  • Support of 24x7 operations team by accepting periodic on call rotation assignments
  • Execution of software deployment into production systems during maintenance windows, as assigned
BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science from an accredited college or university; or related field and/or work experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of application development experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of BMC Remedy (Version 9.1 and above), CMDB, Web Services, REST API and Customer API client and scripting development
  • Minimum of Three (3) years on Latest Linux Operating Systems and Server side user and administrative tasks and scripts development
  • At least two (2) years of experience mentor and coach other engineers
  • Minimum of three (3) years conducting design sessions to specify solution designs for feasibility, cost, and functionality.
  • At least four (4) years of experience troubleshooting application problems.
  • Minimum of Three (3) years database support systems in a variety of database languages, including performance tuning techniques.
ADDITIONAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with third-party APIs and integrations; Netcool, Splunk, Remedy, etc.
  • Knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6 Networking, Routing, Firewalls & ports, including host based firewalls
  • Ability to create, maintain, and explain detailed documentation to functionally understand new and existing applications.
  • Experience supporting users by developing documentation and assistance too
  • Knowledge of operational telemetry and OSS strategies, including but not limited to log aggregation tools, wire capture tools, application performance monitoring and Management tools, and host-based/systems monitoring software, including dashboard creation.
  • Experience recommending system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchase alternatives
  • Experience integrating applications by designing database architecture and server scripting; studying and establishing connectivity with network systems, search engines, and information servers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ideal candidate will have development operations experience within an MSO or telecom environment
  • Relevant certifications for the skills listed above


Salaries depend on geography, experience, and education; negotiations begin at $64500
