JOB TITLE: Architect

JOB SUMMARY
Provide technical leadership, guidance, and support in formulating strategic technology approaches and systems architectures for Charter's enterprise systems. This position is responsible for designing reusable technical assets and standards to support solution development, as well as consulting with project owners on how to best leverage these assets and standards in database and big data systems. Broad knowledge of the information technology landscape - stretching from infrastructure, network, client, server, emerging technology standards and trends.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Work in collaboration with BI delivery team leaders, business analysts and business leaders to understand business requirements and end user’s needs

•Translate business requirements and end user’s needs into architecture blueprints that deliver cost effective & high performing, high quality BI solutions in compliance with Charter standards, policies and long-term technical strategies

•Design, develop, manage and update logical and physical data models for the BI data marts in database system/Big Data Environment

•Work with IT partners to review the upstream data warehouse data models and assess/mitigate the impact on BI side

•Communicate database designs to business and technical audiences, including business users, program sponsors, database administrators, ETL developers and BI developers

•Work with DBAs/Hadoop Admins to migrate schema changes between development, QA and production environments

•Provide architectural expertise, thought leadership, direction, and assistance across entire BI organization

•Present proposed solution blueprints to the Architecture Review Board. Communicate solution blueprints to other project team members, business users and program sponsors

•Participate in Architecture Review Board meetings. Review solutions presented by other BI architects and provide constructive feedback

•Engage with IT teams such as Data Management, DBAs, Security, Storage and Networking when their involvement is required to meet the project needs

•Help solve complex production issues spanning multiple tiers in the BI/DW technology stack

•Stay current in new BI /DW technologies, evaluate them and make adoption recommendations

•Participate in developing and documenting technical standards and best practices for the BI organization



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Must be detailed oriented and highly motivated
Professional communication skills
Able to adapt to agile and fast-paced environment
Experience building and implementing model-driven, enterprise-level business solutions
Knowledge of all phases of software development including design, coding, testing, debugging, implementation

Education
BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS or related field or equivalent work experience

Related Work Experience
10 years experience with system installation, configuration and operations
6 years of software or DB development
4 years of DB schema design or XL message design and web service design
2 years of building automation tools (ANT, Maven, Jenkins) and testing automation tools (SoapUI, JUnit)
