Principal App Architect I

The incumbent will design and influence design for complex projects within the BSS and Customer Experience space. The role will architect innovative solutions by developing, implementing and recommending solutions for applications as well as develop and maintain a project/program/functional roadmap for the organization. Expert knowledge in the use of Teradata, CSG and ICOMS billing platform including but not limited to: SQL, parameter entry, security, data-warehouse, mass communication platforms, workflow-engines, Middleware and product and architectural design.

  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the consumer experience
  • Facilitate design discussions bringing together multiple technical and business teams in order to understand business needs and ensure technical designs will meet those business needs.
  • Develop cross program/project/functional roadmaps outlining dependent functionalities and delivery of business needs.
  • Design BSS/OSS initiatives via Level 0 and/or Level 1 documentation, implement, and deliver complex products for users
  • Actively and independently acquire knowledge of new development technologies in areas such as mobile, video, second screen, social media and other niches
  • Coordinate with and influence the development teams to respond, clarify or define specific application behavior, look/feel and function
  • Diagnose complex issues, evaluate, recommend and execute the best resolution
  • Manage detailed application requirements and collaborate with project /development teams to ensure quality function, features and user experience
  • Develop, modify, enhance and implement software system designs in support of new or existing business initiatives
  • Influence system design by identifying and recommending design and requirement needs for software enhancements
  • Work with test teams to ensure proper and efficient execution and adherence to business and technical requirements for given solutions
  • Ensure alignment between the business operational strategies and technical solutions
  • Analyze and revise existing system logic difficulties and documentation
  • Make technical recommendations on application projects


Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Strong understanding of best practices in solution and enterprise architecture
  • Experience developing, implementing and maintaining 3 year roadmaps
  • Experience in developing solution architectures within the BSS space
  • Experience in integration architecture
  • Strong knowledge of Agile development methodologies
  • Ability to deliver against several initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities
  • Thorough understanding of software engineering and object oriented design principles
  • Understanding and ability to manage multifaceted new media platform systems
  • Ability to manage complex and diverse projects
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred
Related Work Experience
  • 7+ years of Teradata MDM application design and development experience
  • 7+ years of Data management and normalization
  • 7+ years of User Interface design and development experience
  • 7+ years of BSS/OSS design and development experience
  • 5+ years of Cable / Mobile biller solution experience (ICOMS, CSG, Amdocs)
  • 4+ years of Web services development experience using REST, JSON, XML
  • 4+ years of Java experience
  • 4+ years of Integration architecture
  • Office environment
