JOB SUMMARY
The VP, Software Development position will have responsibility for the engineering software systems, processes, tools and teams specifically in support of our large business lead to cash operations . This role will build and lead high performing teams that own the end to end design, development, testing and ongoing production support of the suite of applications. This includes customization of packaged applications such as Salesforce.com and Ericcson’s order care as well as internal built applications. The expectations of this leader is to bring modern development design principles, cloud technology and agile delivery processes to help build a best in class systems and support Charter’s growing Spectrum Enterprise Business Unit. This role will be responsible for software configuration and release management processes including expanding Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery in key areas. The role will also be responsible for the creation and management of a Development Test, automations, and QA test organizations for all projects and software solutions delivered by the Engineering Software organization or provided by vendors. This role will have end to end accountability of delivery of new features and capabilities across all of IT for projects under their portfolio, influencing as necessary partnering technology organizations are delivering in a coordinated plan. This VP will have relationship management responsibility with key executives across Spectrum Enterprise Sales, Operations, Product, and Network organizations. In addition, this role will have responsibility for ensuring production systems quality, stability, maintainability and reliability. The teams under this VP will be a mix of internal employees, external contractors, and solution vendors, with the expectation to grow internal employee knowledge and capability over the next two years.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure the highest quality software products are provided to our customers through effective multi-location development and QA testing.
  • Stay abreast of trends in the area of Agile, Cloud and Virtual operations technologies and systems.
  • Understanding of modern complex systems development processes and help in a journey in agile and iterative delivery
  • Oversee the recommendations and teams for defect/remedy and outage triage methods for products, services and applications thru software solutions and product enhancements.
  • Ensure that software delivery systems in data center, cloud or virtual environments are aligned with operational and system company objectives.
  • Assist in the implementation of technical and engineering QA/Test/OPS performance standards to meet or exceed performance and expectations.
  • Oversee the implementation of software system architecture plans for all current and future software projects’ requirements
  • Advise on new directions and challenges in the virtual systems, operations and testing areas.
  • Approve major policies and engineering procedures that impact Charter's software delivery system.
  • Establish a dynamic, highly motivated, software, testing and system operations team with outstanding competencies in the company's core technologies and processes.
  • Ensure teams are balancing new feature delivery with technology improvements
  • Understand and align with business partners’ key outcomes to ensure mutual success
  • Collaborate ell across teams to ensure solutions designed and built deliver business value.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
  • Ability to read, write speak and understand English
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Ability to monitor/assess performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
  • Knowledge of modern software testing methods, software development methods, deployment strategies, and software server systems (Virtual and physical)
  • Knowledge of process and program management in a communications business,
  • Knowledge of large business processes, challenges and product offerings preferred
  • Strong track record of success as leader
  • Ability to build strong trusted relationships across multiple layers in the technology and business partner organizations
  • Demonstration of agile approach to all tasks and timelines
  • Strong ethical behavior combined with unmatched passion, commitment and drive for quality excellence
  • Strong program management skills demonstrated through effective implementation and use of team approach, systems agile development methodology and processes, business strategies and planning
  • Demonstrated experience building and leading and motivating high performing teams
  • Understanding of Salesforce.com preferred

Education
Bachelor's Degree Preferred.

15 + years of industry experience in broadband, software, or service providers
