The accountant position within the Capital Accounting team will be responsible for the day-to-day functions and monthly posting of the company's capitalized labor. This involves database management, journal entry preparation, variance analysis, and communication with field level employees and management.

Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience

Prepare month-end journal entries from detail accounting transactions over the calendar month and during the month end close process.

Prepare variance reports both in trend and to budget, and provide specific required analysis on assigned areas. Present findings to supervisor

Provide insight into the variances including communicating with Business Planning personnel and/or the Capital Accounting team when needed

Assist in managing day-to-day Microsoft Access database related to capitalized labor costs and other information related to those costs

Provide innovative ways to be able to provide data to field level business planning team in order to aid them in budgeting and forecasting.

Update all required schedules for maintaining the balance sheet

Responsible for compliance with SOX controls and to support the audit process

Skills / Abilities and Knowledge

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner
Ability to prioritize and organize effectively multiple projects and tasks
Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.)
  • Microsoft Access experience is strongly recommended
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Word
Ability to work with moderate supervision in a team based, deadline oriented environment

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
