Claims Analyst
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for helping oversee the administration of Charter’s workers’ compensation claims management program. The Claims Analyst will assist in mitigating company’s risk by formulating, developing, reviewing and coordinating claims related activities in conjunction with internal and external partners.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
Work with the Third Party Administrator (TPA) claims adjusters and Risk Management team to ensure proper and efficient handling of claims in a multi-state environment; Charter operates in 41 states
Help achieve equitable, cost efficient case resolution by optimizing company resources for most favorable outcomes, timely resolution of cases, and appropriate use of medical and investigation resources
Provide reserve and settlement authority to TPA within designated limits, escalating all appropriate matters as required
Work closely with internal and external partners to assess potential liability and assist in resolution while coordinating with Charter stakeholders as part of the claims management process to ensure the proper processes are followed
Secure information and evidence from the operating business units regarding liability and/or workers’ compensation claims
Review and assess subrogation potential of all claims
Attend or arrange for representation at trials or claims mediations, as needed
Participate in claim audits of Third Party Administrators
Coordinate and participate in claim reviews for all operating business units
Monitor and report injury trends and assist developing appropriate interventions for illness/injury awareness, detection, prevention and early treatment
Pursue appropriate educational opportunities to maintain professional competence and certification requirements
Assist in special projects as directed by the Risk Management team
Travel as needed, although expected to be minimal
Performs other duties as requested
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Ability to analyze and interpret large volumes of data
Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner
Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel, as well as attorneys
Ability to investigate and make liability determinations
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
Ability to negotiate
Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
Ability to show judgment and initiative and to accomplish job duties
Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets)
Ability to work independently
Knowledge of subrogation, litigation and general law
Knowledge of office procedures and the operation of standard office equipment
Ability to use Microsoft Office products
Required Education
Bachelor's degree in Business or related field or equivalent experience ARM, AIC or equivalent designation
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years
Property and Casualty Adjuster experience - 3-5
Liability Claims Representative experience - 3-5
