Director, Energy Cost Management

JOB SUMMARY
The Dir, Energy Cost Management is responsible for overseeing departmental and functional procedures in identifying and enacting changes that reduce energy cost across the organization. The role operates independently and professionally and has significant influencing skills to be used across the business and external parties.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience

Maintain an understanding of finance concepts, methods, standards, principles, and technology, and make sound decisions and recommendations

Establish strategic plan for department consistent with business unit’s strategic vision

Manage the cost savings measures for all electricity cost

Continuously identify and pursue opportunities to reduce electricity cost

Manage the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) and Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) annual and quarterly reporting

Provide support with other members of the Sustainability team to establish and coordinate renewable initiatives to accomplish Charter’s Carbon Neutral Goal by 2035

Possess and apply comprehensive knowledge of current and evolving best practices and industry trends

Work effectively with PUCS, utility tariff departments, internal business planning and partnering service partners to achieve company goals

Provide support, training, mentoring, and development to reporting staff on an ongoing basis to ensure the department performs at a maximum performance level

Guide and influence people, processes, and resources to support the best interests of the business

Build and maintain trusting relationships with business leaders and partners

Adapt to multiple, shifting priorities while maintaining focus on the broader business

Support the internal/external audit processes and direct the documentation of procedures to comply with SOX requirements

Perform other duties as required


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Ability to analyze and develop and present data driven reports
Ability to think strategically and anticipate future trends, needs, and expectations
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a clear and straight-forward manner
Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
Strong business planning and forecasting skills
Excellent managerial and interpersonal skills
An in-depth understanding of accounting controls
Ability to supervise and motivate others
Strong computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access
Understanding of finance concepts, methods, standards, principles, and technology, and makes sound decisions and recommendations


Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience; Master’s preferred

Related Work Experience Number of Years
Experience in electricity cost management 8-10
Supervisory experience 5+
Experience managing and changing tariff rate costs
Experience sourcing electricity
Experience with budget and forecast guidance and calculations
Industry related accounting experience preferred
