JOB SUMMARY The BI Communications Manager position is responsible for developing and managing Charter Business Intelligence (BI) business messaging with robust communication strategies and distribution across all types of platforms (meeting, email, web, etc). This individual is an expert communicator and will establish, maintain and continually improve a holistic, proactive and effective communications process for Charter BI. This role identifies and takes action to positively promote BI's products and services, improve communication skills of our BI employees, and ensure that our customers have timely information needed to effectively and accurately use BI products.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborate with leaders to develop and execute an effective BI communications strategy
Research and write announcements, articles and other materials geared toward information sharing and transparency. Create and maintain a repository of standard communication templates to be leveraged throughout the BI team
Collect and organize facts of highly complex issues or initiatives, often working with leadership, to produce concise executive summaries, PowerPoint presentations, and end user communications. Use the appropriate types, methods, and tools needed for each communication
Manage proactive and reactive communications of data integrity issues, conveying complex information in a manner that is easy to understand at multiple level of the organization
Create and manage communications on new product releases and organizational announcements on behalf of the leadership team
Proactively identify, recommend, and implement opportunities to improve both internal and external team communications
Improve the quality and efficiency of communications inside the BI team – through training, coaching, publication of standardized materials, etc.
Earn a reputation as an exceptional communicator from leaders and team members alike
Perform other duties as requested
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Skills / Abilities and Knowledge Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with team members and internal customers in person, on the phone and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner Ability to investigate, analyze, and interpret data related to complex concepts and summarize them into clear and concise content, suitable for the intended audience at any level of the organization Ability to summarize topics into clear, visually appealing PowerPoint presentations Skilled at creating powerful PowerPoint templates to help teams efficiently build consistent communications Skilled at presenting in front of a group (e.g. leading training sessions for BI team members) Ability to own and support content development, design, review, and approval for communications utilizing tools such as Adobe Campaign (or equivalent) Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills; comfort functioning as an individual contributor, working with leadership, and managing cross-functional communication projects in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines Expert level skill in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and proficient in Visio and Excel Self-motivated, creative, able to grasp new concepts quickly, and a strong attention to detail Excellent time management skills, with ability to balance day-to-day needs for producing “tactical” communications while advancing efforts on more strategic communications projects Integrity, sound judgment, and out-of-the-box thinking are a must with the passion to add value through strong networks and collaboration with all colleagues
Education BA/BS degree in Journalism, English, Communications or related field or equivalent experience
Related Work Experience 5+ years in Communications related position or Newspaper/Magazine/Publishing House experience
WORKING CONDITIONS Office environment Travel as required
