Manager, Counsel - Employment Law

This is an opportunity for an attorney with 1-3 years of experience to join a dynamic and productive work environment in support of a Fortune 100 company’s Employment Law Team. The attorney will be primarily responsible for the end-to-end and effective handling of employment-related, administrative claims pending with federal and state agencies, including developing strategy, conducting investigations, preparing responses to claims, and attending evidentiary hearings. The position requires strong academic, communication, organizational and analytical skills, and we prefer some experience or an interest in employment law.

Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience

Researches general legal issues

Interprets laws, rulings, and regulations for corporation

Negotiates and drafts transaction agreements

Fields and answers questions from business units concerning transactional issues, compliance implications, and other legal topics

Works with senior in-house attorneys to proactively identify and address key legal issues for management

Keeps informed of industry-specific regulations

Coordinates and manages outside counsel

May lead and direct the work of others

Perform other duties as required

Skills / Abilities and Knowledge
Background or experience in employment law, strongly preferred
Strong legal reasoning and drafting skills
Ability to make decisions and creatively solve problems while working under pressure
Ability to manage multiple projects at one time and shift gears as priorities change
Ability to communicate complicated legal issues concisely to business executives
Ability to work well with a team, including cross-functionally
Ability to travel for work, frequent travel, (post Covid)

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
Admission to State Bar in which Attorney practices

Related Work Experience
1+ years experience in general business legal issues
Experience in corporate law, employment matters, strongly preferred

Office environment
Ability for frequent work travel (post Covid)
