The Manager, Programming Data & Analytics will be charged with answering and assessing complex quantitative questions and business challenges using a wide variety of advanced analytics techniques. This position will be focused on accessing and leveraging internal and external data, as well as building models to support Charter’s various business groups (Programming, Original Content, Spectrum Networks, Marketing, Product, etc) on critical initiatives and decisions. This role will obtain, analyze and interpret internal and external data, including Set-Top-Box viewership data, Nielsen / comScore ratings, as well as company financial reporting and subscriber information to produce actionable recommendations and solutions. It requires understanding of the Programming business and how various analytics solutions can be leveraged in decision-making.
•Perform data mining (including data aggregation, validation and reconciliation), data modeling, data analysis and interpretation; explain variances and trends; identify and document enhancements to modeling techniques; communicate complex findings and ideas in plain language
•Conceive and create data models in support of Charter’s Programming initiatives. Analyze, synthesize and present data in meaningful ways; provide informed conclusions on industry trends, competitive threats, the value of programming, as well as its impact on subscriber behavior to senior leaders
•Work creatively within and around current data constraints to architect and develop data models that clearly communicate the business impacts of the Programming team’s strategies and decision-making. Prepare dashboards to clearly present conclusions and make recommendations based on strategic understanding of the data collected
•Analyze programming performance (compared to competitors in the landscape, projections, and prior year) and communicate key findings and opportunities to senior leadership. Create and maintain comprehensive profiles for each programming group that identifies key metrics and the established value each programming partner brings to Charter. Develop actionable insights through the analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data, building recommendations that directly address business objectives
•Provide Analytics support to Charter’s newly established Original Content group, tasked with developing exclusive content for Charter customers. Inform original content selection, develop post-launch analyses and provide recommendations with respect to next steps; conduct a full analysis of changes impacting the industry and the programming landscape as it pertains to Charter’s customers and operations, and ensure impacts are accurately integrated into forecasts
•Work with Sr. Manager and VP, Programming Analytics on development of new network and program engagement metrics, identifying all relevant metrics and using advanced analytics techniques to incorporate them into the overall engagement model
•Perform ad hoc analyses as needed

•Proven expertise in hands-on data mining and modeling with related software knowledge (e.g. MS Excel, MS Access, Tableau, Hadoop, SQL, Python, Oracle, R, SAS, etc.); deep experience in extracting, cleaning, preparing, and modeling data with the intellectual ability to dive deep into complex issues by leveraging data; high level of comfort working with large data sets
•Passion for the media industry with a desire to shape Charter’s positioning within the landscape through the use of innovative data techniques. Familiarity and/or experience working with key media measurement systems - Nielsen, Rentrak, ComScore, and set-top box data is a plus
•Demonstrated ability to tackle problems, probe facts, identify and question assumptions, and analyze issues from different perspectives; strong problem-solving skills and an interest in process improvement is a must
•Exceptional eye for detail with an intuition for spotting inaccuracies; ability to identify creative solutions and isolate key issues quickly
•Ability to align systems, programs and people with the company strategy and culture; excellent communication skills including an ability to communicate and work effectively with business managers and diverse cross-functional groups
•Experience evaluating specific business categories and marketplace trends to identify prospective opportunities that enhance Charter’s position against competitors in the marketplace

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Statistics, Economics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Econometrics, Engineering or related field. MBA or an equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred
