We are excited to recognize Jennifer, a Spectrum Enterprise Senior Program Manager based in Tampa, FL, as our Employee Spotlight. Jennifer came to the company as a contract hire in September of 2014. She transitioned to full-time in March of 2015 and has been overseeing Unified Communications Implementation (UCI) for Spectrum Enterprise strategic clients ever since! Here are a few things she shared with us about her experience at Spectrum Enterprise.
Tell us a little about what you do. I was hired in 2014 as a contractor to support a “Hosted Voice” project, migrating a segment of the customer base from one platform to another. After my six-month contract ended I was offered a permanent role as a project manager. As of next month I will have been in this role for a total of five years.
How have you found your experience at Spectrum Enterprise? I feel very fortunate to work with the people I do. My immediate team consists of a manager and four project managers, and while we are a small team, we successfully manage UCI projects in multiple regions across the country in the Strategic vertical. We work very well together and support one another.
Do you have a favorite story of your time with Spectrum Enterprise? By far the most impactful experience was being assigned as project manager on a Hosted Voice project for a large banking client. My role as a project manager is to ensure that we meet the client’s expectations and deliver the Voice solution they requested. This project had the additional responsibility of ensuring that we aided the client in adhering to federal guidelines that regulate the banking industry, their internal strategic imperatives, and their deliverables to their internal stakeholders. I met this challenge by developing a partnership with my client contacts, seeking to understand what they needed to accomplish with the project, and then making sure that the project supported their objectives.
What, in your opinion, is the best part of working at Spectrum Enterprise? The best thing about working at Spectrum Enterprise by far is the people I work with. I interface with many different teams across the country. I also enjoy a challenging work environment. Supporting products, such as Unified Communications, that continue to grow and expand into new markets ensures a dynamic work environment and presents unique challenges. Or, as I like to call them, “opportunities to shine.”
How would you say you’re making a difference here? I am currently working on obtaining my Project Management Professional certification, fully supported by the company. While I love working directly with our Spectrum Enterprise clients, I see myself transitioning to a role that focuses on process and system improvement. Ensuring our project management teams are supported in the best way possible is key to the support of our client base and ultimately the overall client experience.
