Are you an experienced engineer ready to architect, design, maintain and enhance datacenter hardware and software? You can do that. Do you want to lead projects while working with technical operations teams on system design and configuration? As a Principal Engineer II at Spectrum Enterprise, you can do that.

BE PART OF THE CONNECTION

You lead, maintain, and enhance critical systems across the Spectrum Enterprise Datacenter/Private Cloud environment. You possess an in-depth knowledge of technical and design skills that you use to improve Datacenter teams and advise team leaders.  You collaborate with multiple cross-functional technical teams in person and digitally in an office environment.

HOW YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Design, monitor, enhance and troubleshoot systems in the Spectrum Enterprise Datacenter.
  • Improve logic difficulties and documentation through a detailed analysis and revision of existing programs.
  • Maintain system design standards through rigorous testing and review.
  • Ensure that all technical integration, changes, standards and documentation is accurate through technical support.
  • Mentor and guide technical teams to develop architecture and operational standards in the Spectrum Enterprise Datacenter environment.
  • Mitigate risks by adhering to industry-specific local, state and federal regulations.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM ENTERPRISE

Required qualifications

  • Experience: Ten or more years of engineering and project management experience. 
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.  
  • Technical skills: Knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, fiber, multi-mode, single-mode, UTP cable, bridging, switching, routing, Ethernet and transport technologies and protocols; Understanding of network design, network architecture, protocols, network topology, TCP/IP and the OSI model; Familiar with ticketing and software tools, network devices and network appliances; Proficient in network designing software and Microsoft Office.   
  • Skills: English communication skills. 
  • Abilities: Able to perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and learn new technology quickly.  

Preferred qualifications

  • Expert level knowledge of Linux
  • Experience architecting, designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience with OpenShift.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Management Platforms.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining OpenStack environments.
  • Networking knowledge to include routing, switching, BGP, data center fabrics, EVPN-VXLAN, spine-leaf
  • Load Balancing, experience with F5 Big IP preferred.
  • Experience with software defined storage preferred.
  • Proficiency with shell scripting and a familiarity with scripting languages such as Python and Ruby
