Turning Technology into Connection: Spectrum Engineers at Work
When a family streams their favorite movie on a Friday night, a small business processes a payment or a student logs into an online class, there’s a team working behind the scenes to provide seamless connections.
At Spectrum, engineers do more than design systems and maintain infrastructure — they power the everyday moments our customers depend on. They build, strengthen, secure and evolve the network that keeps millions of people connected.
From enhancing network reliability to creating new, innovative products and protecting customer data, engineering plays a direct role in delivering the experiences our customers trust us to provide.
In celebration of National Engineering Week, we’re highlighting team members whose work helps turn complex technology into meaningful connections. Discover how they’re making an impact, below.
I help lead a team that's focused on protecting and improving the performance of Spectrum equipment in the homes of our customers — think modems, routers and WiFi extenders. Our team proactively investigates customer-impacting issues, supports complex escalations and partners with other teams internally to identify and mitigate security risks. Our goal is simple: make our internet experience more reliable, resilient and secure for every customer.
A recent career achievement was supporting the launch of our WiFi 7 Extenders and Invincible WiFi solution. Through rigorous testing and cross-functional collaboration, we helped identify and resolve issues before launch to ensure a smooth customer experience.
Ryan Schwegal, Director, Internet Reliability
My team enables consistent, reliable and automated software delivery across Spectrum’s video platforms. We streamline video application development, deployment and operations — enabling engineering and operations teams to dedicate more time for delivery of value to customers.
Over the past few years, we’ve led the expansion of standardized integration and deployment pipelines and modernized our infrastructure to improve resilience, scalability and operational consistency.
I view innovation as renewal and continuous learning and improvement — all with the customer experience in mind. With AI now integrated into our ecosystem, I am looking forward to making decisions and creating solutions that are even more intentional, resilient and secure.
Nicole Eamon, Director, Video Software Engineering
My team is responsible for testing and certifying traditional video solutions for both residential and business customers, as well as equipment supporting our Distributed Access Architecture initiative. Before any hardware or software reaches production, we validate it in the lab to ensure it performs as intended and delivers a stable, high-quality customer experience.
With new automation and AI tools emerging, I’m excited about the positive cycle they create — freeing engineers to work more efficiently, learn more and continue raising the bar.
Charlie Dietz, Director, Engineering, Video Delivery
I’m part of Technology Strategy & Innovation – Wireline, where we focus on evolving our broadband access networks to power both today’s services and what’s next.
A highlight in my career was helping to develop and certify outside plant devices capable of operating at 1.8 GHz — a true engineering roller coaster that pushed existing architectures and required deep collaboration and persistence. It reinforced that progress isn’t linear, and the lessons along the way are just as valuable as the outcome.
To me, innovation is not a single breakthrough moment; it is a mindset of continuous improvement and curiosity. As technology grows more complex, the future of engineering belongs to those who can simplify, ask better questions and design practical solutions that solve real problems.
Diana Linton, Principal Engineer I, Wireline Networks
My team ensures the reliability, quality and performance of our video platforms. When Product introduces a new feature, we build the test environments, validate functionality end-to-end and make sure the experience works as designed — not just technically, but in a way that’s simple and intuitive for customers.
Our role is to bring clarity to ambiguity — turning ideas on paper into something customers can see, use and trust. To me, innovation is about meaningful improvement and creating value.
Nic Winters, Director, Engineering, Video Delivery
