What makes a successful Field Technician? Here’s what we're looking for.
Our Field Technicians stay active, work outdoors, and are able to quickly and accurately diagnose a wide range of technical problems for our customers. As a member of our team, you will:
Perform installations or service calls at customer premises
Use hand tools, ladders and electronic diagnostic and installation equipment
Conduct work at heights, climbing ladders and utility poles, adhering to safety standards and using proper protective equipment
Communicate with, engage and educate customers on products and services
Your Schedule
Field Technicians work in assigned shifts and varying hours, including evenings and weekends, based on business needs. After initial training, you will enjoy the flexibility of starting your day from home, driving a company vehicle directly to your first work location.
From your first day on-the-job, you’ll have the training, tools and resources needed to succeed, including:
A company vehicle and assigned gas card
Spectrum uniforms, including branded shirts, hats and jackets
Personal protective equipment (hardhat, boots, gloves, safety harness, etc.)
Hand and electronic tools and equipment necessary to perform the job
Paid Training
Field Technicians participate in comprehensive, paid training, which includes classroom and on-the-job field training, including ridealongs with supervisors, trainers and mentors – for you to learn all about the ins and outs of your new role. Your learning journey includes:
Classroom, field, and safety training with experienced trainers, supervisors and team members
Ongoing updates to ensure your knowledge of Spectrum products and services is evolving

Working Conditions Our Field Technicians work outdoors, utilizing hand tools in a variety of environments. Required Qualifications
Education: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
Schedule: Ability to travel (including during inclement weather) to and from assigned customer premises, company facilities and other locations as necessary.
Language: Fluent in English.
Technical skills: Proficiency in using computers and software applications. Competent in using hand tools.
Abilities: Effective communication, professionalism, time management, organization, critical thinking, responsibility and reliability.
Valid Driver’s license with safe driving record within company standards required.
Physical: Walk over various terrains and weather conditions while carrying tools and equipment. Safely use weight-bearing equipment (up to 345 lbs) and lift up to 75 lbs. Climb ladders up to 32 feet and work in confined spaces and at heights. Operate and navigate a company vehicle in changing environments. Work with small components and wires. Work outdoors for extended periods in any season and inclement weather.
