The Lead Site Reliability Engineer is responsible for leading design, development and implementation efforts of cloud based technologies. The Lead Site Reliability Engineer leads in the planning, forecasting, implementation and identification of resource requirements for network systems of varying (moderate to high) complexity. In this role, you will use your development and operations knowledge to identify and prioritize issues, find solutions to common problems and mentor and support junior staff to help support our Cloud infrastructure enterprise wide. This includes working with our entire engineering organization and Enterprise Architecture.


WHAT OUR LEAD SITE RELIABILITY ENGINEER ENJOY MOST

  • Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Take ownership and accountability of the Product/site reliability.
  • Work with architects, teach leads, test leads and stakeholders to identify points of failure.
  • Lead and improve the tooling and automation of our infrastructure to minimize manual work, increase performance, and decrease the frequency and severity of incidents.
  • Define the type of alert requirements, exceptions and messages to be monitored that will trigger the alerts and recovery.
  • Establish best practices for logging, monitoring, health checks, and recovery.
  • Lead or assist with Root Cause Analyses (RCAs).
  • Provide critical input into the selection, configuration, and implementation of new and existing technology solutions.
  • Demonstrate high ownership and ability to drive issues to resolution.
  • Highly organized and have the ability to juggle many tasks without losing sight to the highest priority items.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Five years (5+) Load Balancer configuration management
    • Five years (5+) Network support / architecture experience
    • Five years (5+) Troubleshooting
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Technical Skills:
    • Established knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6 Networking, Routing (OSPF/BGP/ISIS), Firewalls & ports, including host-based firewalls (IPF, iptables) and including subnets/prefixes.
    • Advanced experienced with multiple operating systems (e.g. Windows and Linux)
    • Experience with network design, network architecture, protocols, and network topology
    • Advanced experience with SLB platforms (A10, F5)
    • Advanced experience implementing a variety of network service models (e.g. Private, Public, Multi-Cloud)
    • Experience scripting in one or more languages (e.g. Python, Shell, PowerShell, Ansible or Perl)
    • Experience with CI/CD tools (Puppet, Ansible, Jenkins)
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
    • Implements approved methods of procedure.
    • Highly skilled in load balancing; F5 and A10
    • Define approach for scale up and scale down and ensure Infrastructure provisioning scripts and automation meet required implementation. Establish automation to measure and drive compliance accordingly.
    • Assists in the development and documentation of technical standards.
    • Leads project-related stand-up meetings
    • Advanced experienced with firewalls, routing and load balancing
    • Advanced experienced with managing both physical and Virtual infrastructure
    • Advanced experience managing monitoring and alerting tool
    • Prior experience working in an Agile environment
    • Skilled in troubleshooting methodologies
    • Must have excellent written and oral communications, including technical documents, and process documents.
    • Requires attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
    • Ability to contribute independently as well as be a team player
    • Advanced experience managing small projects
    • Self-starter, ability to manage tasks with little supervision
  • Work Environment:
    • Office Environment
    • On Call support, on a rotation basis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years (5+) Cisco networking
  • Three years (3+) Firewall configuration management
  • One year (1+) CI/CD experience in a customer facing, production environment
  • Three years (3+) Experience as a Site-Reliability/DevOps System Engineer
  • One year (1+) AWS or other cloud computing platforms

The base pay for this position generally is between $98,900.00 and $175,300.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
