WHAT OUR SYSTEMS ENGINEER’S ENJOY MOST

  • Design, deploy, manage, and ensure stability of the application video platform ecosystem and related IP Video infrastructure and to provide security, high availability, resilience, fault tolerance, and scalability to effectively and efficiently support Spectrum TV application.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, such as software developers, network engineers, and database administrators, to ensure project success.
  • Provides experts judgement and analysis of the problem statement and implementation details for resolving.
  • Responsible for reviewing architecture, design application deployment design and provide recommendation for improvements.
  • Ensure the scalability, reliability, and maintainability of complex system architectures.
  • Collaborate with Principal Engineers on upcoming proposal and support improvements planned. Have in-depth knowledge on CICD pipeline and build Infrastructure pipelines.
  • Proposes initial technical implementation which supports architecture challenges that solve scaling and performance problems. Possess proficient knowledge on services business functionalities, dependencies, configuration.
  • Implement and maintain security measures, such as access controls and vulnerability management processes. Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in system engineering.
  • Demonstrate a high level of competence in IP Video Operations, application monitoring, deployment and configuration management, availability and performance optimization, capacity management and forecasting, cloud computing, troubleshooting critical issues, and coordination of implementation.
  • Represent the Engineering Department working closely with Architects and Engineers in designing, modeling, and implementing new technologies. Provides recommendation on design, scaling and infra needs for improving resilience and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve major IP Video system issues.
  • Document project requirements including scope, costs, schedule, testing and terms of delivery to ensure project is completed with highest level of quality on time and within budget.
  • Mentor and train other Engineering personnel in key elements of IP video infrastructure architecture foster knowledge transfer and provide technical presentations to instruct co-workers and other production services support individuals.
  • Research and identify emerging technology opportunities and application to the business. Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and the adoption of new methodologies.
  • Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable. Knows, understands and follows company policy.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Six (6+) years System or Server Administration
    • Five (5+) years of AWS, Kubernetes, and containerization technologies 
    • Five (5+) years of deployment operations, production on-call support and build release engineering experience 
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience; May require Industry
  • Technical skills:
    • Expert knowledge and use of development / automation tools, application frameworks and testing / troubleshooting tools (some examples are Perl, Ruby, Python, Shell, BASH, traceroute, top, iostat, netstat, tcpdump, vmstat, ps, curl, etc)
    • Expert system administration skills for operating systems (some examples are LINUX, UNIX, Windows, etc.) including Client / Server Application functionality, RBAC, SUDO, logging and health checks.
    • Expertise in building CICD pipelines and infrastructure as services leveraging terraform, ansible and CloudFormation.
    • Experience in leveraging Kubernetes addons of Istio, Valero , Valult, argcoCD , Fannel , Calico, Aws secrets manager.
    • Systems knowledge (Linux, Unix).
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
    • Expert Knowledge in AWS services
    • Expertise in Kubernetes and networking
    • Strong database knowledge pertaining to Aurora,
    • Document DB, dynamodb, Cassandra and MongoDB 
    • Intermediate knowledge on Lambda, SQS, SNS, Kafka
    • Knowledge on monitoring tools like Data Dog, Splunk and Kibana and build complex queries to support troubleshooting
    • Must be available for planned after-hours maintenance as
    • well as on-call shifts
    • Ability to use personal computer and software applications
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • In-depth knowledge in areas of specialty for specific applications, and general knowledge of supporting or integrating applications creating platform ecosystems
    • Expert knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations
    • Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
    • Ability to use the following office equipment telephone, copier, fax, and calculator
    • Ability to use personal computer and software applications
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Work Environment:
    • Office Environment
    • May work in Lab or Data Center/Implementation Facility environment
    • 24X7 Network Operations environment
  • Travel Requirements:
    • Occasional travel as required

The base pay for this position generally is between $88,200.00 and $156,600.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
