VP, Observability as a Service

The VP, Observability as a Service is responsible for directing the design, deployment, capacity management, configuration, and ongoing operation of national Operational Support Systems. This includes monitoring tools, inventory and software assets systems and data platforms that are integral to achieving the performance goals of the corporation. This role sets observability and compliance standards, policies, and master plans for all Service Delivery OSS functions, including network management, inventory management, capacity management, performance management, and customer care systems supporting messaging via browsers. This position champions solutions that enable increased efficiency across technology operations entities driving automated and integrated onboarding “service catalog” driven delivery model. This executive defines and recommends enhancements to existing applications and implementation of new systems ensuring that business requirements are met, and the total cost of ownership is minimized. Additionally, this role partners with reliability engineering to provide strategic guidance for solutions for full-stack observability. This position is responsible for all data quality in the systems and for driving increased automation interface between OSS systems and between OSS and other systems as appropriate.
WHAT OUR VP, OBSERVABILITY ENJOY MOST
- Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
- Set infrastructure operations plans associated with all OSS systems according to Technology Operations and corporate strategy, including rationalization of systems as appropriate.
- Identify and deliver a self-service model for all observability tools.
- Set and execute a strategy to achieve a ubiquitous service catalog for internal consumers, integrating with other shared service and platforms across technology operations.
- Oversee a functional area of the Technology Operations organization and inform corporate leadership of regional activity and any risks/issues.
- Support the maintenance and enhancement of all OSS hardware and software systems that support the ability to monitor all customer-facing infrastructure (business and residential).
- Manage capacity and correlate events to support providing service levels for all Charter products and for all customers.
- Responsible for the organization's budgets and approving related capital expenditures.
- Work with vendors for OSS hardware and software quotes, including support.
- Negotiate multi-million dollars contracts, including the successful management of multi-million dollar budgets.
- Execution of RFP/RFI to identify target software solutions.
- Assist with establishing and overseeing the implementation of operational standards, policies and/or master plans for provisioning and applications operations.
- Lead the operation and implementation of existing and new technologies to improve all of the OSS systems utilized by Charter employees.
- Evaluate operational strategies, identify and develop new operational directions, and lead the organization in their deployment.
- Advise Technology Operations leadership of enhancements to existing products and operation of systems, providing strategic guidance and technical assistance to corporate and field management on OSS issues.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- Twelve to Fifteen (12-15) years IT work experience
- Minimum Ten (10) years Leadership experience
- Five to Ten (5-10) years of Project management experience
- Education:
- BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS or related field or equivalent work experience
- Skill and Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Ability to communicate in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner
- Expert-level knowledge and understanding of technology across various domains with a key focus on OSS systems, including Network Management, capacity management, incident management, trouble ticketing, logging aggregation etc.
- Demonstrated experience in the migration of large-scale OSS systems and solutions
- Understanding and experience of site reliability engineering
- Understanding and experience of full stack observability principles
- Understanding and experience of monitoring as a service
- Understanding and experience implementing open telemetry standards
- Experience and knowledge in designing/implementing/operating large-scale inventory management systems
- Experience and knowledge in designing/implementing/operating large-scale software asset management systems
- Experience leading operations for big data platforms
- Goal-oriented, with an exemplary track record in collaborating with diverse stakeholders and driving results, especially via influence management
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in the performance of job duties
- Ability to recruit, motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, identifying the top talent
- Proven ability to distill complex technical information into clear, concise and comprehensive communication material
- Ability to comfortably and successfully present ideas to various audiences from front line employees to company executives

- Experience relaying sensitive information to appropriate parties

- Strong technical skills with knowledge of a wide variety of tools and technologies

- Experience leading others and providing constructive feedback

The base pay for this position generally is between $174,300.00 and $290,300.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
