This position is responsible for administration of company-wide liability claims (Auto Lia, Gen Lia), including overseeing coordination of internal staff of claims analysts, third-party administrators (TPAs), and legal counsel (in-house and outside counsel) involved in liability claim resolution.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Provide consultation to VP, Risk Management to develop, implement, communicate and manage liability claims and programs.
Continually evaluate the effectiveness of the Company’s existing policies and procedures related to the reporting and handling of liability claims, and seeking to incorporate ‘best practices’ for constant improvement.
Manage the team of liability claims analysts who serve as a liaison between the TPA and company employees, legal counsel and occasionally law enforcement.
Develop the team of liability claim analysts with a focus on training each member to understand rules and procedures for multiple states, and encourage team members to proactively work toward claim resolutions that are mutually beneficial for the company.
Oversee preparation of loss information and statistics for internal analysis; identify trends and issues, and offer recommendations to lower the overall claim costs, reduce the time of open claims, and reduce TPA costs, where possible.
Understand and manage the interactions between the claims team and other company organizations such as Safety, HR, Fleet and Legal to streamline claim recognition and reporting, ultimately leading to timely resolution of liability claims.
Assure timely investigation of significant accidents involving the organization; oversee coordination between insurance companies, attorneys, TPA and potentially OSHA.
Review and analyze data in order to assist the Safety department to devise risk minimization programs.
Performs other duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Ability to analyze and interpret large volumes of data
Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner
Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel, as well as attorneys
Ability to hire and train a team of claim analysts responsible for companywide claims
Ability to investigate and make liability determinations
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
Ability to manage multiple projects at one time

Ability to prioritize and organize effectively

Ability to work with the company’s auditors and actuary, as needed
Knowledge of subrogation, litigation and general law
Knowledge of office procedures and the operation of standard office equipment
Required Education Bachelor´s degree in Business or related field or equivalent experience Desirable Designations: AIC, ARM, CPCU
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years Workers’ compensation claims management at a large TPA/Carrier or with an employer - 8+ Direct experience in managing claim outcomes and a workers’ compensation claims staff - 5+
