What you can expect in this role 

As a Spectrum Intern, you’ll be essential to two teams — your respective department and your Intern peer group. Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You’ll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, webinars, community service, cross-functional project, and final presentations.  Our CEO has emphasized the 3 E's: Evolution, Expansion and Execution - our team is directly involved in all three!

Internship responsibilities may include

  • The intern in this role will be supporting the Field Operations Business Planning team to provide Data analysis and support for assigned business units. 
  • As such, the Intern in this role will be conducting an array of analysis in categories that may include headcount/staffing, capital project, capital labor, lost CPE, materials issuance and/or other relevant operating or performance analysis with operational analytics. This will require work across multiple cross-functional teams in a collaborative manner.

Here’s what it takes to get started 

Required qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited College or University completing a Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Degree
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current program
  • Ability to travel locally to Spectrum Intern development events and activities throughout the program
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship
  • Experience with analytical and statistical software
  • Experience using a data science toolkit such as Python or R
  • Comprehensive level SQL skills
  • Demonstrated effective analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy
  • In-depth knowledge of core computer science principles including algorithms, data structures, and design methodologies
  • Prior exposure to cloud-based infrastructures

  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Oral and written skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Problem solving abilities
  • Proficient in Software including Adobe, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word
  • Analytic skills required in business, computer science, engineering, or data science
  • Ability to analyze a complex problem, gather data, present findings, and make recommendations
  • Entrepreneurial and controllership skills
  • Data analytical skills with heavy emphasis on Excel
  • Knowledge of SAP and/or other general ledger software
