JOB SUMMARY
The Vice President of Marketing Science leads a team responsible for leveraging big data and advanced analytics to inform business decisions within Spectrum’s Residential Sales & Marketing organization. Core responsibilities include the execution of analyses and mining of large data sets, leveraging demographic, pyschographic, and transactional data to identify patterns and drivers of customer behavior in support of marketing campaigns and tactics that span the full customer lifecycle. This high-visibility position reports to the Group Vice President of Marketing Insights and has heavy interaction with leaders of the Sales, Marketing and Business Intelligence teams.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports Spectrum’s Sales & Marketing organizations for custom targeting lists related to growing the customer base and all aspects of customer lifecycle.
Oversees development, enhancement and ongoing maintenance of a portfolio of propensity models aimed at predicting customer and prospect behaviors using advanced statistical methods including Machine learning algorithms.
Executes analyses and mining of large data sets, leveraging demographic, pyschographic, and transactional data to identify patterns, triggers and drivers of customer behavior; distills insights into treatment recommendations for use by customer facing agents
Synthesizes large and complex data sets into manageable analytic data sets to facilitate structured analyses and ease of insight development
Identifies and validates new third party and internally derived data sources for incorporation into the Marketing Science and Marketing databases including: demographic; psychographic; macroeconomic; firmographic; transactional data.
Measures performance of special marketing intitiatives and campaigns.
Leverage statistical methods to development custom segmentation schemas in support of existing or new Marketing initiatives.
Manages roadmap for reporting and key operating metrics (KOMs) that reside in Spectrum’s Business Intelligence (BI) platform; establishes set-up of reporting structures for new services and business processes; liaison between Analytics, Sales & Marketing teams and BI organization
Responsible for managing and developing a team of highly skilled professionals.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Extensive knowledge of marketing principles, CRM techniques and processes, and hands-on experience working with Direct Marketing, Marketing Database, and Research functions
Hands-on experience using statistical and quantitative methods, developing propensity models, and developing segmentation schemas
Strong communication skills, including experience presenting complex information in a concise and easy to understand fashion
Proven ability to attract, develop and manage staff
Ability to manage large, complex projects
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to succeed in a fast-paced dynamic environment with limited oversight
Software Skills: SQL, SAS, SPSS, R, Python,
MS Office skills, including PowerPoint, Excel and Word- with proficiency in Excel; Think Cell and Tableau a plus
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree from accredited four year college with major in Marketing, Management, Finance, Business Analytics, Statistics or Economics
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years
Marketing Science/Analytics experience at large organization – 15+

Advanced analytics and data science skills with ability to communicate complex insights verbally and in written presentations

MBA or Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science or Business Analytics preferred
