Job Summary
Are you interested in leading high-impact legal strategies for a Fortune 100 company? Spectrum seeks a Vice President, Assistant General Counsel to help drive our mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, investments, organizational effectiveness and integrations. In this role, you will advise senior executives, shape corporate legal policy and play a vital part in steering our business forward. Your expertise will influence major decisions and ensure legal excellence across the organization, adding efficiencies to processes and making ideas a reality.
How You’ll Make an Impact Leadership and Strategy
Support and guide the administration of M&A Legal’s strategy and processes within the legal group and throughout Spectrum
Hire, train, supervise and evaluate a legal team of attorneys, paralegals and administrative professionals, supporting them in professional development to advance the team’s function
Collaborate with colleagues to develop solutions for complex legal challenges and draft, negotiate and prepare transaction document
Policy and Process
Assess existing processes, policies and training while ensuring legal and business practices are aligned with company objectives
Advise internal clients on responses to new legislation and regulations, recommend policy and process decisions, and understand the unique challenges and goals of the business unit
Communicate legal briefings and compliance matters to senior management and the General Counsel
Cross-functional Interaction
Serve on senior-level corporate committees and coordinate with other legal practice areas to proactively address key legal issues
Seek opportunities that will produce substantial, long-term improvements for the team, the Legal Department and the Company
Develop strong working relationships with finance, tax, regulatory and compliance through deals, integrations and beyond
What You’ll Bring to Spectrum Required Qualifications
Education
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
Admission to State Bar in which Attorney practices
Experience
10+ years of legal practice experience
5+ years of legal experience in mergers and acquisitions
Skills
Strong leadership and mentoring skills
Proven verbal and communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization
Demonstrated ability in team building, inclusion, accountability, and creating a culture of collaboration
Proven knowledge and understanding of corporate law, M&A and antitrust
Ability to think strategically and anticipate future trends, needs, and expectations
Excellent business planning and forecasting skills
Demonstrated experience in creating legal defensive and proactive strategies
Demonstrated leadership in interpersonal relationship-building and decision-making skills with all levels within the organization
Proven experience in supporting geographically diverse stakeholders and direct reports
Demonstrated strategic planning skills in a fast-paced/high-performing and changing environment
Proven analytic, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Advanced Microsoft Office Suite computer skills
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

Preferred Qualifications
Experience
7+ years of public company legal experience in mergers and acquisitions and antitrust
5+ years of in-house legal experience in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions and antitrust
Skills
Proven ability to lead M&A transaction processes within a dedicated legal group and across business units of a public company
