As the Sr. Director of Network Technology Services at Spectrum, you will lead efforts to ensure the reliability and performance of our Access Network, with a strong emphasis on enhancing the customer experience. This role requires strategic leadership and the use of complex data sets to drive network operations, reliability, and capacity planning. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Operations, Product, Data Science, Field Operations, and Customer Operations, and other Spectrum teams to achieve seamless product delivery and exceed customer expectations.

Directly involved with the planning and deployment of new products and services. Work with Access Design & Engineering, Access Capacity Planning, and other departments to facilitate the handoff of new products from testing to operational readiness. Responsible for directing and managing all Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) and Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) field or hub-based equipment operations. Implement and ensure consistent operating, configuration and engineering standards to ensure stable product delivery aligned with department initiatives and expectations.  Creates and leverages data platforms to ensure accuracy. Participate in capital planning for Access related initiatives with Engineering, Core and IP Management and ensure execution of approved budgeted plan.

  • Apply analytical skills to forecast demand, plan network capacity, and ensure scalability of network resources.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, product, and customer support teams to align goals and enhance service delivery.
  • Establish systems to monitor and enhance reliability metrics, proactively addressing customer-impacting issues.
  • Support and execute capital planning, ensuring budget efficiency and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and stakeholders to ensure the reliability and quality of network components.
  • Oversees all daily operational requirements for the Access network including execution of planned maintenance, outage/incident/impairment triage and resolution, tracking of ongoing problems and chronic issues, and escalation to other support groups or advanced resources for problem resolution
  • Monitor problematic customer affecting chronic issues. Work in tandem supporting all Access operations groups. Ensure consistent operating, configuration, and engineering standards to ensure stable product delivery aligned with department initiatives and expectations.
  • Utilizes or creates network tools and scripts to identify, support, and final resolution of required Access maintenance and customer impacting services.
  • Vendor management facilitating open cases, RCAs, and EFA reviews.
  • Provides engineering support and direction for new or existing technologies and current operational initiatives.
  • Evaluates and consults with Corporate, Regional and KMA levels of leadership regarding Access Solutions & Services.
  • Directs quality control programs to ensure consistent operational procedures for the Access networks solutions.
  • Supports capital budget process for the Access network services and solutions, execute approved budget plan.
  • Ensures current procedures and tests are performed in accordance with Charter Policy and Procedures.
  • Ensures adherence to company policies and other related Engineering standards.
  • Proactively and consistently evaluates standards and policies against business results, employee and customer feedback; identifies and addresses needs and process implications.
  • Translates corporate strategy and field priorities into short and mid-term objectives for the function.
  • Negotiates for resources and priorities that affect major aspects of the organization’s operations.
  • Evaluates quality trends, identifies performance gaps, assesses root cause, and delivers continuous improvement efforts that rectify issues, simplify processes and enhance business performance

What You’ll Bring to Spectrum

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc)
  • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (NCTI, SCTE, BCT/E)

Experience

  • 10+ years of engineering experience
  • 7+ years of management experience
  • 2+ years of project management experience

Skills

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
  • Ability to use personal computer and software applications
  • Ability to analyze data and develop and present data driven reports
  • Ability to document, prepare and present executive level presentations

  • Expert knowledge of DOCSIS and other Access network solutions and platforms
  • Expert knowledge of CCAP and other developing standards, DOCSIS Modulation profiles, TFTP, TOD, CM files, and other related provisioning elements
  • Comprehensive understanding of HVAC and power distribution systems
  • Knowledge of Analog Transmission Line theory, Electronic theory, Fiber Optic theory
  • Knowledge of Network Core and Transport
  • Effective business planning and forecasting skills
  • Effective analytic, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective team and relationship building skills; proven leadership and mentoring skills

The base pay for this position generally is between $155,430.00 and $275,990.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
